FAQ:

For your early childhood music classes, can I/am I required to stay with my child?

The only child-parent course we offer is that FamJam.  Our drop-off classes begin at age 3 with the WeeJam Playgroup.  WeeJammers may have a bit of separation anxiety at times--especially new students--but we find that after a few minutes they begin to engage in the music making fun and all is well.  If you feel that your child may have a hard time adjusting to a drop off class we invite you to schedule an appointment to visit the studio and meet with the instructor prior to the first day.  Parents may also wait in the breezeway outside the classroom door if they want to stay within earshot of their child.

Is prior experience required for your group classes?

While all of our courses are non-audition, the Roots&Wings Rhythm Band for Teens and 'Tweens and the Grown Folks Lab Band with Khari Allen Lee do require that participants have been playing their instruments for at least one year and it is helpful if they possess basic music reading abilities.  No experience is required for the children's classes or camps.

Do I have to have to register online?

When it comes to wanting to kick it old school and avoid online ticketing fees wherever possible we totally understand, and we know some folks just like to avoid cyber purchases altogether which is also understandable.  While we can relate to grumbling over add-on fees for businesses like Ticketmaster, as a small, hometown operation the choice for Musicollaborative to use an online registration system has not only saved us money on office hours which helps us to keep tuition costs lower, but has also eliminated beaucoup hours of computer screen time which helps us stay healthier and happier to continue being of service facilitating classes, camps and lessons.  We do offer an offline option, but it adds a fee since we have to process all of the forms and receipts manually and it makes financial record keeping and especially transfers or refunds more cumbersome.

Why is there an additional $20 fee for manual registrations?

The online registration system we use not only organizes all of our registration information, processes waivers and media release forms, delivers confirmation receipts, handles any credits, refunds or transfers accurately and easily and maintains our records for tax purposes, it also saves us a tremendous amount of time and money, freeing us up to do what we love to do which is planning and facilitating classes, camps and lessons.  We still offer the manual option for those who prefer to avoid online transactions but it adds a $20 fee a to cover manual processing.  Completed manual registration registration packets must be accompanied by payment in full plus the $20 fee via cash, check or money order.  On average manual registrations are $5-$10 more expensive than online transactions.
